comment:"\"part. In order to address this assumption via an independent experimental approach, the interaction of the proregion with the mature part was analyzed in SPR experiments. Mature GDF5 was immobilized and the proregion used as a soluble analyte. Association of the wild type proregion with mature GDF5 deviated from a 1 : 1 interaction. The curve shape was interpreted according to two binding reactions and one association constant with KD = 15.1 nM and the second one with KD = 911 nM. It is possible that the low affinity interaction reflects the association of the proregion with the mature part that has already bound one molecule of proregion. Association of GDF5 with the T201P proregion occurred at clearly reduced affinities of KD = 304 nM and KD = 7.2 μM.\""
